Hey, I'm glad you found your way to my website about 'Teaching Children Conservation Through Art'. Welcome. Hopefully, it'll add a splash of colour to your day.

Drawing, colouring and painting are great ways for young people to express themselves, especially if they haven't mastered speech yet. The mind of a child is a magical place full of adventure, and when translated through art, the results can be enchanting. Every tiny mark made - whether it's in a workshop or at home with my kids - tells its own unique story about how we can help the environment around the world.

Doodleswithmydaughter.co.uk™ was born more than three years ago to showcase the art my daughter, Rose, and I created whilst I was teaching her the importance of Conservation as a toddler. Since then, I've been leading Conservation Art workshops in nurseries and primary schools.

Stemming from my workshops, from Summer 2018 and continuing until today, I've helped Mad Hatter's Nursery, Greatham Village Nursery School, Liphook Infant School and Hollycombe Primary School win Awards for efforts in Conservation from Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots education programme for young people.

When the UK went into its first lockdown due to COVID-19 in March 2020, I began running my workshops remotely online. These quickly went international, helping to keep children occupied and learning in a fun way during uncertain times from all across the UK to Ireland, Europe and Africa, encouraging larger groups of children to grow up being more mindful and respectful towards our incredible planet.

In September 2020, I teamed up with ZEWACT, Zambezi Elephant Welfare And Conservation Trust, to pilot a Conservation Art programme for young children in the Victoria Falls community Zimbabwe, who had by September, been out of school for seven months. The program has been so well received that I see more happy little faces joining in my workshops every week. The children are increasingly eager to learn about crucial Conservation topics, relevant to both Africa and worldwide, which is excellent because children are, after all, the bright stars of the future.

About

I'm a creative person born with a passion for art which I seem to have passed onto my little girl. Teaching young children the paramount importance of conservation, and how to look after our planet better so that all life forms can continue to thrive for future generations, is something we can do through drawing and painting and is essential to the success of our being.

Nurturing the relationship between children's art and conservation is my quest. It's the sentiment behind the art that can be the learning.

My work background is in Communications, and I have a degree in Anthropology BSc from UCL, which I found fascinating as it enabled me to focus my interests in Man's Early Art, Conservation, Human Ecology and Primatology.

I continued to develop my passion for art by taking courses at London Fine Art Studios. Skills I hope will make this an enticing website for you browse.

TESTIMONIALS

'Diana prepares these sessions with obvious great care and thoughtfulness. She delivers them at just the right level for our pre-schoolers, and while she talks about creatures and animals that are endangered, along with what the children can do to help, we observe the impact these workshops are having on our children from the 'wow' moments that happen during, and after, the workshops.

Diana has a very respectful, caring attitude towards the children, and they respond by soaking up the important information she's giving them. With the way Diana is teaching them conservation, the seeds that are being planted in their minds today will surely bear fruit in years to come and indeed help conserve our planet.'
