Introducing Ella, the sea turtle with her babies Mopsy and Purdle, as my daughter has named them.
Sadly, six of the seven species of sea turtles worldwide are endangered as a result of poaching for their shells, eggs and meat, habitat destruction, climate change and entanglement in fishing nets, fishing gear and plastic (https://www.worldwildlife.org/species/sea-turtle).
Did you know that global warming has an impact on turtle nesting sites? It changes the temperature of the sand, which then affects the sex of hatchlings (https://www.worldwildlife.org/species/sea-turtle). Another thing to add to the equation.
I sketched these beautiful animals and my best girl coloured them in to celebrate all that they are for World Turtle Day today. We hope you like Ella's pink eye leashes too.
