Celebrating Simba

In the late 1970s 100,000 lions were roaming Africa, but today there are only 20,000 left in the wild as a result of trophy hunting and habitat destruction ( To honour all that these incredible animals are for World Lion Day today, I sketched this, and my daughter coloured it in with pencils and oil pastels - that was the messy, but entertaining part - whilst learning about their conservation.

Did you know you that these beautiful creatures have the loudest roar of all the big cats and can be heard from five miles away ( How impressive is that? Long may the plains of Africa be alive with the sound of Simba's song.
