For International Women's Day today I sketched this and my daughter coloured it in. Elephants are really intelligent animals that live in tight matriarchal family groups, led by the oldest and wisest female in the herd; the matriarch. She looks after all members of the group by passing on her knowledge for survival down through the generations. Unfortunately, however, Elephants are endangered due to habitat loss and poaching (https://www.wwf.org.uk/learn/wildlife/african-elephants).
I teach my daughter about conservation of our planet and hope that one day, should she be lucky enough to have children of her own, she will do the same. But, this all depends on how well we look after our planet today. Thankfully we have a choice and can all help protect our future, starting by simply being mindful of our wonderful world every single day. Baby ‘elephant’ steps, as some might say.
